For the first time in history, we have two Australian champions simultaneously. One of the greatest performances from JDM we could have asked for. I think everyone was hoping that would happen, but no one expected Belal to turn into “Canelo Hands’ and turn it into a true kickboxing matchup.
Don Bones Jones is now eyeing off potentially one of the greatest keep/drops our league may see. Releasing the pound for pound number 1, opting to keep the fighter going for the Lightweight title and then drafting the Welterweight champion who if defends the title will be the Queens Gambit of UFC Fantasy.
My Balls Was Hot is continuing to shock the world halfway through the season and has been in the top two since basically day one. Just Bleed is making their way through the field after spotting the field to start the season, can the commissioner get the come from behind win we all dream of?
Double PPV this month and Mid-Season draft. We're knee deep in the season now.
May Odds:
Aussie Bottom Team $4.5
My Balls Was Hot $5
Dana White Supremacists $6
Don Bones Jones $7
Just Bleed $8
Bisping Right Eye, Shara Right Eye $8
The Last Bender $8
The Bustanutters $11
Dangerous Rangerous $11
Dagestani Smesh Bros $14
Dropkick Murphys $14
Spare a thought for your Deputy Commissioner and Bustanutters who will have to watch this average at best card from the edge of their seats. A head-to-head double surely hasn’t been seen on a fight night card. Season defining stuff from two managers watching the season slip between their fingers.
$1.41 Blanchfield (DKM) V Barber (TBN) $2.92
Blanchfield has ripped my heart out before, could she do it again? A pretty solid betting favourite in a fight that could have title implications if Shevchenko V Weili doesn’t happen. Anything can happen in this division, expect long and boring with wrestling and control time. Barber missed weight badly for this one.
$2.10 Viera (TBN) V Chiasson (DKM) $1.75
Like a game of two-up here, the only way I’ll be content is coming out 2-0 on this card. This fight has been a pick em’ for as long as I’ve seen it on the market with late money only just coming in, weighing it in Chiasson’s favour. A better fight then the other these two have some power. Should be close and anyone’s games
Happy Stone-Cold Steve Austin Day. Bad day to be an edible in the Jovanovski household hosting 316 with Monday off the following day. Some big title fights with big implications on the leaderboard. The winner of the main event will most likely be favourite for the July form guide. Make sure you are all up for the first fight on the early prelims, our boy Quillan Salkilld tries to get his second finish inside 20 seconds.
$1.30 Dvalishvili (MBWH) V O’Malley (DBJ) $3.40
Dvalishvili looking one of the picks of the year going for his second title defence as a heavy favourite. Can O’Malley get some revenge from last year or is it going to be another easy win for the champion?
$5.00 Pena (DR) V Harrison (DSB) $1.16
We’ve all known this one was coming for Harrison, as short as a challenger gets and only the weight cut should stop her from getting the belt. Pena will need to fight the fight of her life to come away with this defence, but we have been seeing underdogs win often this year.
$4.05 Gastelum V Pyfer (DBJ) $1.23
Don Bones is enjoying a good run of form, Pyfer after being a late withdrawal earlier in the year gets the golden matchup here, iron chin Gastelum might send it to decision, keep an eye on that prop.
$2.35 Bautista (BRESRE) V Mix $1.57
Patchy Mix is currently a free agent and is open to being picked up. Will someone snap him up before this one as favourite in a division crying for a new name in the top 5? BRESRA is hoping to snag a double here.
$4.40 Silva V Van (BRESRE) $1.20
Van a very short favourite and looks the goods here, can a performance of the night bonus be included in this one? Time will tell but a good position for the manager.
$1.72 Spivac V Cortes Acosta (TLB) $2.08
Spivac finishes fights while Cortes Acosta is a distance guy. If The Last Bender gets the win here, he might have to get him out of there, could be interesting or could be better off getting your toilet break in.
Good main event here, exciting to see some UFFC action on these Fight Night cards. As the weather gets colder there’s no better way to spend a Sunday morning than riding the rollercoaster of our league.
$2.82 Usman V Buckley (DSB) $1.41
Buckley trying to keep the streak going after one of the greatest runs in the UFC in 2024. Could be a masterclass here from one of the best to do it on the other hand. Expecting Buckley to win but very interested in this one.
$1.36 Namajunas (MBWH) V Maverick (ABT) $3.08
Thug Rose’s 14-7 record looks nothing like the champion she used to be; can she wind the clock back against Miranda Maverick?
$4.05 Menifield V Sy (MBWH) $1.23
Good opportunity for Sy to climb the rankings with Menifield very gettable. If MBWH lands a double here we could be looking at this month as one of his most important pushes for the belt.
Another card with good fights late in the piece, top heavy and maybe just turn it on for the main card.
$2.20 Hill (DR) V Rountree (DSB) $1.65
I feel like Hill owes Dangerous Rangerous, if he loses this, he puts himself on the never again list for every manager in the league. Rountree is one of the hardest fighters to catch between popping for performance enhancers, nearly winning the belt and injuries you just don’t know what he throws up.
$1.34 Blaydes (DR) V Kuniev $3.18
A double for DR is on the cards here, this should be the easy leg. Blaydes needs a POTN bonus here, the form guide has been harsh on DR all year. Can he prove JOZBET wrong?
What a month of fights, running out of gas writing this article as we have our fifth card of the month. Best till last and Don Bones Jones will be struggling to keep his hands off it in the build up for this one. His boy Ilia Topuria VS his boy Charles Oliviera. Dana White Supremacists golden boy defends his belt against the ANZAC spirit.
$3.85 Oliviera (DBJ) V Topuria (DBJ) $1.25
Easy watching for Don Bones Jones, not much to say here. The world will be going for Charles but odds suggest Topuria could be too much for him, he has a history of beating our favourite fighters. Time will tell. Sick fight though.
$1.41 Pantoja (DWS) V Kara-France (DSB) $2.82
Dana White Supremacists has been loving his pickup of Pantoja from day one and has every right to. Has become a dominant champion who wants to continue to clean out the division. Kara-France will need to dig deep to get a title win for Dagestani Smesh Bros who could have two title holders come months end.
$3.35 Royval (ABT) V Kape (DKM) $1.31
Every time Kape fights I keep calling it a title eliminator and then they give him another non-title fight. Surely this is the number one contender fight and an opportunity if someone pulls out of the co-main.
$1.56 Moicano (TBN) V Dariush $2.70
Moicano after getting thrown into a title fight in January now goes back to what he does best, beating good not great guys. Should be right in his wheelhouse here.
$2.92 Costa (DWS) V Kopylov $1.39
Kopylov a potential mid-season draft pick up if someone needs a middleweight, this is a pretty good spot for him. Costa has become more active but it’s not helping the record.
$2.78 Araujo (DSB) V Cortez $1.43
Does Dagestani Smesh Bros throw Araujo into the mid-season draft scrapyard, so he doesn’t have to sit through this one?
That took ages so let me know if you enjoy these write ups.
Looking to release an accountability article soon that runs through my season predictions and how I faired at the start of the year.
Start crunching some numbers for mid-season draft coming up soon, a real chance for us bottom dwellers to change things up.
Signing off, Deputy Commissioner, Joel Murphy.
