The League is made up of 11 teams, including 9 inaugural teams and 2 expansion teams.
Each team selects 1 fighter per division, totaling 11 fighters per team.
Each team has an assigned captain who earns 2x points all year. The captain is set on draft night and will remain captain all year. They can only be reassigned through Free Agency or the mid-season draft.
The buy-in for 2025 is $80. The winner will be paid $500, and the remaining money goes towards a special project announced on draft night.
Each team can access free agency twice throughout the year. It can only be used if your fighter is long term injured, suspended due to drugs, retires or faces a long layoff. Free agency must be approved by the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner collectively, if the claim is made by the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner, it must be a majority vote by the league. Your scores to date stand via departing fighter. Free agency is only available until September 30.
Each team can sign one new fighter per year from a waiver wire, held reverse ladder order. The fighter must be a new signing to the UFC. The team must delist a fighter in that fighter's division to replace them.
The points scoring system has been enhanced to provide fighters more opportunity to earn more points throughout the year. This includes:
All finishes now earn 10 points, regardless of the round.
Dominant and clear decisions now earn more points, with incentives for fighters who win 10-8 rounds and 30-27/50-45 fights.
Fighters who win 5-round non-title fights will earn 5 bonus points, recognising the significance of Fight Night main events and PPV co-mains/feature bouts featuring high ranked fighters.
The robbery card has been abolished.
A deputy commissioner has been introduced, the owner of The Dropkick Murphys - Joel Murphy.
The draft in 2025 is held the following way:
The 2 expansion teams will flip a coin for first and second picks. The winner gets the first pick of round 1 and the second pick of round 2, the loser gets the second pick of round 1 and the first pick of round 2.
Rounds 1 and 2 are reverse ladder order from 2024. Round 3 onwards will snake.
Each team must select 1 fighter per division, totaling 11 fighters per team. You cannot select multiple fighters from each division.
Returning teams from 2024 have the option to retain one fighter by giving up their first pick in the draft. This rule balances out the introduction of the new teams against the final results of 2024. Teams must nominate their retained fighter, if they choose to retain, by Wednesday 8 January.
The 2025 draft will be held at the Great Northern Hotel on Thursday 9 January from 5.30pm. Interstate and international teams will join via videoconference.
