A month is a long time in MMA, and boy oh boy has this competition heated up.
We now have only 36 points separating 1st and 6th on the ladder. Further down the ladder, it is title fights galore with Don Bones Jones and Dagestani Smesh Bros receiving massive news today which we will unpack below.
Before get stuck into UFC 315, let's take a look back to a couple big fight nights in April.
UFC Fight Night: Garry vs Prates
This one came together on a couple weeks' notice and threw Bisping Right Eye, Shara Right Eye's Carlos Prates straight into the fire. It took him too long to get going as he fell to the fight IQ of Aussie Bottom Team's Ian Cuck Garry. Just Bleed picked up another win through Jaqueline Amorim's submission victory. Don Bones Jones got their first win on the board for Season 2025 through Zhang Mingyang's execution of the retiring Anthony Smith.
UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs Figueiredo
A sneaky good card here. Cory Sandhagen stamped himself at the top of the division with a dominating win for The Last Bender against Deiveson Figueiredo. It wasn't all choclate for The Last Bender, with Bo Nickal getting KTFO by the unsigned Reinier de Ridder. The Bustanutters ticked along with a solid TKO win for Gillian Robertson and Dana White Supremacists suffered a defeat through Miesha Tate on his birthday.
UFC 315: Muhammad vs Maddalena
One of the great months in Australian combat sports history was capped off with a decisive championship victory for Perth's own Jack Della Maddalena. Don Bones Jones claims the Welterweight strap and starts to make his ascent up the ladder. Dangerous Rangerous hung on to some hope of success this year through Valentina Shevchenko's underdog (who sets these odds?) victory over Manon Fiorot. A terrible day at the office for The Last Bender who went 0-2 in title fights.
Just Bleed kept doing what they do best - winning - through Natalia Silva's 30-27 cruise control victory over Dana White Supremamcists Alexa Grasso. Was she ever that good? I don't think so... 3 more points were picked up through Navajo Stirling's disappointing win earlier in the card.
My Balls Was Hot suffered defeat through the questionable selection of Jessica Andrade. How has no one picked Jasmine Jasudavicius? She might rank number 1 in the mid-season draft guide...
It wasn't all bad for Dana White Supremacists who picked up a submission victory for Benoit Saint Denis who fought a can of tomatoes to open the PPV main card.
Now for the big news...
With Jack Della Maddalena's victory at UFC 315, the brass at the UFC were finally able to announce the International Fight Week headliner, along with the much anticipated UFC 319 main event - Du Plessis vs Chimaev.
The big winners out of these announcements are Don Bones Jones and Dagestani Smesh Bros, who walk away with two title fight opportunities. Don Bones Jones having both fighters in his title fighters!
Below is the standings as of 14/05/2025.
Mid-season draft info
The mid-season draft will be held on Wednesday 11 June in the evening. Mark this in your calendars! More info on draft rules will come in its own update in the next couple weeks. It might be a good idea to activate a new signing who is fighting between now and then. If they flop, you can drop them and pick someone up through the draft...
While you're here, I'll remind you all of a couple rules that are at your disposal:
Free Agency
Each team can access free agency twice throughout the year. It can only be used if your fighter is long term injured, suspended due to drugs, retires or faces a long layoff.
Free agency must be approved by the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner collectively, if the claim is made by the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner, it must be a majority vote by the league.
Your scores to date stand via departing fighter.
Free agency is only available until September 30.
New Signings
Each team can sign one new fighter per year from a waiver wire, held reverse ladder order.
The fighter must be a new signing to the UFC.
The team must delist a fighter in that fighter's division to replace them.
In practice, a team would message in the UFFC chat stating they would like to nominate to sign X fighter who has recently been signed by the UFC. The Commissioner will confirm their signing before inviting other teams to nominate to sign this fighter. We will commence at the top of the ladder, with each team nominating their interest. With each nomination on the ladder as we move down, the teams above are removed from the opportunity. Ultimately, the last team on the ladder has the final say.
If you require any clarification on the above rules, reach out to the Commissioner directly.
Don't forget to protect ya neck.
The Commissioner.
