With UFC 311 in the books and a mighty 11 UFFC fighters making the walk, it is time for the first Commissioner's Update of 2025.
Thousands of Armenian fans descended on Los Angeles, California to see their number one contender, Arman Tsarukyan (The Dropkick Murphys), challenge the UFC's #1 Pound for Pound fighter, Islam Makhachev (Bisping Right Eye, Shara Right Eye), for the Lightweight title. A suspicious back injury ruled Tsarukyan out of the fight and provided number 10 ranked Renato Money Moicano (The Bustanutters) with the opportunity of a lifetime to take on Makhachev on 24 hours' notice. It wasn't to be, with Makhachev snatching an incredibly quick D'arce choke to finish Moicano in the first round.
There was further heartbreak for The Dropkick Murphys with his captain Umar Nurmagomedov letting the family down in not just fight of the night, but one of the best Bantamweight fights ever against defending champion Merab Dvalishvili (My Balls Was Hot). The Deputy Commissioner has gone quiet in the recent days however frequent welfare checks are being conducted.
The remainder of the card delivered exceptional fights and some devastating upsets. See results below.
With Makhachev's dominant victory, Bisping Right Eye, Shara Right Eye claims top spot on the first standings update for 2025.Â
We look ahead to a busy February which features a stacked Saudi Arabia card, a less than inspiring UFC 312 in Sydney, and a couple impressive fight nights to close the month. February is the start of 10 straight weeks of UFFC action!
Now it wouldn't be a Commissioner's Update without some rule clarifications, right?
Free Agency
Each team can access free agency twice throughout the year. It can only be used if your fighter is long term injured, suspended due to drugs, retires or faces a long layoff.
Free agency must be approved by the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner collectively, if the claim is made by the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner, it must be a majority vote by the league.
Your scores to date stand via departing fighter.
Free agency is only available until September 30.
New Signings
Each team can sign one new fighter per year from a waiver wire, held reverse ladder order.
The fighter must be a new signing to the UFC.
The team must delist a fighter in that fighter's division to replace them.
In practice, a team would message in the UFFC chat stating they would like to nominate to sign X fighter who has recently been signed by the UFC. The Commissioner will confirm their signing before inviting other teams to nominate to sign this fighter. We will commence at the top of the ladder, with each team nominating their interest. With each nomination on the ladder as we move down, the teams above are removed from the opportunity. Ultimately, the last team on the ladder has the final say.
If you require any clarification on the above rules, reach out to the Commissioner directly.
Congratulations to our winners so far this season and commiseration to those who have been fraud checked (yours truly).
Don't forget to protect ya neck.
The Commissioner.
